Interested to know how the Community stays up to date on Start Up news and developments – I love Crunchbase when you are looking at specific entities, but how about more generic news? I utilise the Sifted newsletter, Linked In and Seedrs – but any other good resources that you would recommend?

Many startups submit to Hacker News when they launch. They usually post what they do, how they do it, who they are.
For my specific niche (machine learning), many startups try to advertise/astroturf on Reddit, on the specific subreddits. This is sometimes frowned upon by the Reddit community though.
And Twitter is also a great resource, if you follow other people who are interested in similar domains.
