    • Yes indeed, we live in an exploding universe of agile inspiration! Cluttered with an army of agile software development evangelists with a confusing array of competing methodologies, digital transformation case studies typically of larger corporations in service businesses like banks and retail giants, big consultancy houses with agility practices pushing out research, books and magazine articles and classical coaching, consulting, and training firms hitching their wagon to the agile train! We will cut through the complexity and the hype.

    • To me, adaptability is about having the wisdom or confidence to know when it’s OK to change direction when something blocks your path.

    • I think being agile and adaptable means being open to surprises and change. Life doesn’t always go as planned, and for someone like me, who schedules and plots out everything, that can be hard. That’s why adaptability is such an important skill to have!

    • Just did another virtual workshop for a room for of CEOs of SMEs/mid-market companies yesterday explaining why I like to say “Agile is the new LEAN” as the solution to the problem of accelerating VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity), explaining how VUCA drives chaos and why many businesses are a disorganized stampede! All businesses do LEAN to some degree (formally, semi-formally or informally which we call continuous improvement of efficiency, effectiveness … even law firms talk about being lean) and are now waking up to the fact that LEAN is no longer enough.

At which point one of the CEOs said, “that’s my whole company … you have just described my business … I am struggling to deal with the VUCA pile that seems to be growing!”.

P.S. Sorry for the acronym of VUCA but it is a huge one in the field of Enterprise Agility … a documentary movie just came out called “It’s VUCA!” If you Google VUCA, you will be buried.
