This changed my outlook massively.

I remember being told by a client at the start of my career – ”if you want to ’do’ big, you have to think big”. That still resonates with me.

A good one from the City is ”avoid making enemies [not be a doormat], it’s a small world”. There was also something about wanting a friend and getting a dog but that’s of less relevance in this charming forum.

It wasn’t said to me in this way but can be summarised as ’Some people never get heard, it’s surprising what they’ll tell you if you listen.’

’Its all about the sales stupid!’ And the really old one Revenue is vanity – Profit is sanity, although we all know the nuances with that in business scaling.
