Hi All,
I’ve been freelancing for a while and at the end of last year joined the TPC Getting Started Event to learn more about different portfolio careers.
I was interested to hear about the difference between Freelancers and Focused Experts (defined by TPC as the FE being someone who usually owns their own IP).
I’m looking for someone with experience along the lines of this definition who might be able to spare some time to talk with me about it.
Are there any Focused Experts here who would be willing to chat?
Feel free to drop me a message here or LinkedIn.
Thanks!

As a focused expert myself, I have tried to show this in my TPC profile: http://staging.the-portfolio-collective.com/collective/the-collective-network/ben-legg/
A key benefit of being a focused expert is that people seek you out personally, based on your network, personal brand and perceived unique knowledge and skills. This means 1) you don’t have to apply for work formally vs lots of competition, 2) you don’t just fulfil somebody else’s plan – you write/ propose the plan, and 3) you can charge more, because there isn’t any direct competition.
