I know there are a number of UX/graphics designers in the herd. What do you think about the new(ish) Google professional certification in UX design? This would likely be for my own interest and curiosity, unless I can find a company in Berlin that is aching to hire a 63 year old junior designer. https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/google-ux-design

It’s $39 per month for a course that, they say, you can/should finish in less than six months. But that’s at only 10 hours per week; treat it like a full time job and you could potentially finish it in six weeks at a cost of less than $80. I don’t know how it compares to CourseFoundry or General Assembly, but the former is €5600 and the latter is over $14,000.

I just asked someone I know, in the UK a contract UXer would expect between £400-500 for the most part. £450 pretty common for senior level. £500 not uncommon for senior-lead. More than that is rare but doable in financial services usually.

So interesting…bringing Jane O'Sullivan into the convo as she recently signed up to a UX course. I haven’t heard about the Google one. I did 2 UX courses, one through UAL which was circa £600 and the other through GA which was in the thousands. It definitely helped having my design knowledge going into that course.

Ah really cool, I haven’t heard of the Google one either. The one I’m doing is part of the ’The Interaction Design Foundation.’ https://www.interaction-design.org/. They have a range of affordable and certified courses that are highly rated, so it also may be of interest to you.

Hum, thought I replied to this. Thanks for the insights. I think I’ll start with one month of Google (first week free).
