Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well and looking forward to the weekend!
I’m very pleased to say that Strange are close to wrapping up and launching our online branding programme #NotJustAPrettyLogo, and we’re looking for a handful of users to work through the content as part of a soft launch.
This is for start-ups and SMEs that are bootstrapping their branding, and need a simple, step-by-step guide to build a powerful brand. You can read more about the programme at https://www.strangecreativestudio.com/not-just-a-pretty-logo.
FYI – this programme isn’t recommended for Personal Branding, but luckily Fiona Chorlton-Voong and I have a great masterclass for that! 🙂
You’ll be gifted the programme (price after launch £249) and asked to complete it within a set timeframe. In return we’ll ask that you provide us:
Feedback on the structure, content and any improvements we can make
A short testimonial if you found the programme beneficial
A headshot and permission…

*Free website content guide*
Hi everyone, happy Friday!
I recently put together a guide for our clients who were struggling to structure the content for their website. This homepage guide is based on the ’Building a Story Brand’ framework by Donald Miller (a fantastic book to help communicate your offering – I recommend)
I thought it might be helpful to share here in case any TPC members are a currently working on their websites.
Feel free to drop me a message if anyone is stuck on this – happy to answer questions if I can.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello wonderful portfolio community!
It’s been a while since I’ve booked up my calendar with coffee chats and I have a bit of a networking-shaped hole in my life.
Would anyone be up for a 20-minute chat to share stories, ideas, or just to say hello?
My fellow lover of all-things-branding Fiona Chorlton-Voong has taught me the value of speaking to strangers as often as possible.
If we’ve not met before, let’s connect and have a chat. Drop me a comment below or a DM and let’s book something in 🖤

Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! I wanted to share a project we’ve just finished up for a member of our own team – Strange’s Director of Operations and Marketing Joe Quigley
Joe is kick-starting his portfolio career not only taking care of the day-to-day running of Strange and our marketing efforts, but as a freelance sound engineer, guitar technician and session musician.
We sorted him out with a brand design and website design & build
You can take a look at his new site at https://www.joequigleymusic.com/

Fab work and branding! Great user experience
I did notice a slight (easy to fix) glitch tho guys. The “about me” button on the main page beside Joe’s picture doesn’t hyperlink to the actual “about me” information tab, it takes the user to the top of the main page instead.

and a typo in the I’m Joe Quigley part of the landing page … ”I have been a touring musician for and sound engineer for over 10 years” … one too many ”for”s. Pesky typos!

I like the simplicity. Only three colors. Readable fonts. Flat structure. Easy to find things. I want something like this!

I have a question for the lawyers of the community I hope someone can shed a bit of light on…
When creating online, paid content (specifically an online course) what are the rules around using other brands images?
For context, we’re wrapping up an online course teaching new businesses how to brand themselves, and we use a lot of examples of how other brands do it, the likes of McDonalds, Innocent Smoothies etc.
We’ve pulled together images to illustrate the teaching, but unsure around permissions and whether showing other brands logos and product images would be a no-no without written consent.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Alex, great question! Tagging some lawyers but also other people who have created online courses who might be able to shed some light – Laura Thomas, Ben Legg, Fiona Chorlton-Voong, Lisa Solomon, Jeanette Teh, Kevin Withane, Jacob Lehman, Yasmin Gregory, Francesca Laursen, Gavin Hannah, Lara Hayward

Hey Alex Pitt – I have actually had a few of these convos with IP lawyers. The general consensus seems to be that logos can be used in a non commercial manner – e.g. educational purposes and it is not defamatory. Also it is always good to add a disclaimer, saying that the trademark you have used does not belong to you.
