This week our theme is all about Avoiding Burnout. We have a Let’s Talk event this Tuesday at 5pm, to discuss topics such as prioritising tasks, organisation, and being efficient in order to create a balance between our personal lives and work. Do you think you’re pretty good at managing your day-to-day tasks to avoid burnout?
–
– YES, I masterly plan my day to be balanced.
–
– Getting there…(I hope!)
–
– I’m struggling and need help!
–
– No, I’m completely burnt out
Feel free to share your thoughts and any top tips below!

It’s great to hear your insight Fiona Chorlton-Voong! I definitely need to remember output over input, as I can often get too fixated on the tasks that don’t really make much of an impact. I find having a good plan in place so know what needs completing to stay on track really helps me!

Ah, this is one I’m still unlearning bad habits for and learning better ones! I do love to plan a day… but I’m not the best at sticking to the plan 🥴 Locking in ’unchangeable’ things like prepaid yoga classes or other classes/appointments helps keep me focussed on stopping work, but ensuring I’m working on the not so fun stuff rather than putting all my time into the fun stuff is an ongoing challenge! After yesterday’s Let’s Talk I’m thinking I’ll try out the Pomodoro technique Cara de Lange mentioned to try and keep me on task and stop letting things pile up!

I have so many tips and practices here. One is to set rules for my calendar regarding how much time I will spend on each part of my portfolio (TPC, my startup clients, family, exercise etc) and stick to it – with colour coding! Another is to put a $$$ value on each hour of my week, and if any task can be outsourced for less than that amount, I do so. Plenty more ideas to discuss in the Let’s Talk tomorrow

Great questions Ella Bernie! I try to utilise my time wisely. I thoroughly believe in output over input. If a piece of work is taking me much longer than I anticipated, its perhaps time to scrap the plan and start again or even better – outsource it to someone who more skilled in that area! Financial planning is a great example and its definitely not my bag. Thankfully I have the amazing Rohan Sheth to help me with those models.
Great to see your reactions Ben Legg, Jesus Iniesta, Caoimhe Kelly, Hema Patel, Zarir 'Zed' Vakil, @anthonycmainhon, Alex Pitt
