Good afternoon Collective Shelfers, it’s time to pick a new book club read
Below is our list of choices, along with a short synopsis of each read…
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight
Memoir by the co-founder of Nike, Knight candidly tells the story of how selling shoes from the boot of his car in Plymouth, led him to being co-founder of one of the biggest and most recognisable brands in the world. He talks about leadership, team work, setbacks and of course the many triumphs of his career, that began from starting something from nothing.
Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi
Networking extraordinaire Keith Ferrazzi writes about how to use the power of relationships to become more successful in your career. He discusses the practical principles of networking and connections, why you should never eat alone, and how to become the ‘king of content’.
Deep Work by Cal Newport
Cal Newport coined the term deep work, and began exploring the methods and mindset that foster productivity and the ability to master distraction. Newport shares a huge collection of tools to help utilise your full mental and intellectual capacity, whilst training the mind to focus in an increasingly distracted world.

I feel like I really should have read Shoe Dog by now so that’s going on my shelf regardless, but I think I may need Deep Work more right now!

Oh my gosh read Shoe Dog Caoimhe Kelly you will finish it in a few days I’m sure, I loved it. Where as Deep Work is a bit of a longer slog and the message is quite simple. Shoe Dog is just a brilliant gripping read!
