Yes for the poll
The fireside event mentioned above will talk about a few different matrixs!
-
Have to say I’m synical about MBTI, IMHO they are a mix of voodo magic and self fullfilling prophacy.
And as if to prove it, I sometimes comes out as an Extrovert and sometimes an Introvet, depends on my mood and the amount of coffee I’ve drunk
-
Interesting thoughts Allan Kelly, what I love about MBTI is that it isn’t a test or a way to pigeon hole you into one ”type’’ but for you to understand your preferences in life and be aware of how we, as people will take in information and make decisions differently. Extroversion and Introversion in the MBTI matrix is more about where you get your energy from rather than how you socially interact with others.
-
Yep, I have always been borderline Extrovert vs Introvert and always tested as an ENTJ marginally on the ”E” … with a speaker once I raised the point and said that I thought I was an ”I” who had leaned to ”E” … he asked what made me think I was an ”I” and I said that if I don’t get ”I” me time I get stressed as that is where I get my energy reserves from whereas ”E”ing depletes my energy reserves. He agre…

Mike, sounds like we share some similar I/E traits! I’m typically an ISTJ but have been told – post presenting or leading discussions etc – that surely I’m an E. Can also vary somewhat if I compare me as a post Univ graduate to where I am now in career and life. I’ve found it a very helpful tool, particularly for my own self awareness and also helping diverse teams better understand each other and then performance better and more enjoyably as a result.

I tend to steer away from phrasing as personality ”type” and more about self-awareness and awareness of others’ personality preferences. For Myers-Briggs; I flip between ENTJ/ENTP (and a bit of an ambivert so the I versions of these!). From DISC; preference is also varied and depends on when working under stress or not. Completed other leadership colour / insights quizzes – one of which early in my career led me to leave the company who I had the test with as it wasn̵…

Absolutely agree on the last statement. When I was at Cranfield, a major firm was asked not to use one of their ’personalities’ tests as the results were unrecognisable and the head of organisational psychology described it as ’bo***cks’ .
