When I first finished uni, I wanted to get into publishing but a saturated market, lack of experience, and a foreboding financial crash mean that there wasn’t the opportunities available at the time and I got into marketing instead. I wanted to keep connected to my writing community though, and that’s where side-hustles came in from running my own workshops to supporting community based companies to run their events programmes. Despite trying just to have a 9-5 for a while, having mu…

What made me start was a curiosity about overlapping sectors and how my experience, knowledge and network could contribute in other areas.
Public policy formation —-> Housing Policy ——> Speaking gigs and delivering training in Housing events —–> Advisory positions advising on the Sector —–>
My Portfolio Career is exciting, the next opportunities are unknown, I’m reminded of the words from the great Joe Strummer, ”The futur…

I wanted to get my PhD but wasn’t willing to stop working and do it full time. I found a lot of ’traditional’ marketing roles weren’t super flexible and that made it difficult to fit study into my work life. Having a portfolio career just made sense – it meant that I could create my own balance and focus on the things that were important to me.

Happy Wednesday everyone

What do you do when you start to hit that mid-morning/mid-afternoon slump?
Leave your tips and tricks in the comments

Have a coffee, pet the cat (if she’ll let me!) and switch to another task if I’m feeling stuck. Sometimes just doing something different can put me into a more productive mindset. Plus I can always go back to that previous task a bit later and look at it with fresh eyes.

SO true! I always switch it up when I feel myself going into a slump

I usually go for a walk down the seafront or park!
Sometimes with music on, more often without
That usually charges me up and gives me energy,

Hi everyone!
Hope your weeks are going well.
Currently revisiting Module 2 (after an exciting development…)
I’ve had a productive week, I’m through to interview for a Board role at a Housing Association and am looking at some advisory work with another business.
Fiona Chorlton-Voong – I am going to leaving drinks this evening for a colleague, so won’t be around for the call later.

Hi Everyone!
I have yet to start with the modules as am having a short holdiay with my son but will be on the calls soon 🙂

Thanks for the welcome Ella Bernie. Unfortunately, due to interview commitments, I couldn’t make the call, but I’ll be there as much as possible going forward.

Will miss this week. Went down with COVID last week in Boston so had to quarantine for a week/finally on a plane home today (JetBlue … can’t believe how great the wifi is onboard!) but all backed up tomorrow/friday. I did progress though as planned in pivoting my LinkedIn profile (about 80% done) and Website (about 50% done) to align with my Mike 6.0 story and, not least of all, a new fractional role I have just started which is a major part of that realignment which I am excited a…

I was just a video game nerd in the 2000s that started making my own minigames. I did it for fun. Then years later I got into public speaking and wrote a book about something completely different. Now I just started making some mini programs/products that people can subscribe to off the back of the coaching I have done on and off over the last 4/5 years.
