Out of curiosity, which headhunting firms do you know, and what are your experiences of them?

I have worked with all of Big 5 – Egon Zehnder, Korn Ferry, Russell Reynolds, Spencer Stuart, Heidrick & Strugglles, plus lots of the similar-quality boutiques focused on tech/ startups, such as True Capital, Gordon & Eden, Heads International etc. Both as client and candidate. They are all capable of great work, but it depends on the individual more than the firm. They are all overpriced too, in my opinion.

Hi Peter, sorry for the late reply here! It all depends on what the person, as a client or as a candidate, is looking for. Personally, I always think smaller, specialised firms are the best, they are faster, don’t have a global name to fall back on and there is much more at stake for them. Like Ben, I agree it’s all about the person handling the search, in that respect I don’t there are good companies as such, as their consultants can be hit and miss so it’s all about the…
