Hi everyone, I’m Chartered Accountant and have led finance teams in the public sector and managed a £0.5 bn budget) – but through the the portfolio collective I have become increasing interested in the CFO role in a social impact start up – or fin tech – would anyone working in a finance role be willing to talk me about the role. I appreciate the CFO role in a start is pretty broad as you need to do everything ( which I’ve done) – but would be be great to know how you find the day to day? Or maybe someone would be willing to mentor me :). I don’t have a fundraising background but have have spent 10 years in capital markets working with fixed income investors on the credit side. Happy to connect with anyone who might be willing to share their experience.
Thanks in advance
Roshana

Hi there, I’m the Treasurer/ Board Member for Women’s Rights Organisation and see some potential for attracting impact investor/ gender lens investing to attract funds for investing in social change. I know a little bit about the area, but is there anyone out there who is active in the social impact investing space and would be able to have a conversation with the Head of Fundraising for Womenkind Worldwide about how to go about this? Look forward to hearing from you. Roshana

Hi Roshana Arasaratnam I’m not in a position to offer much advice, but really interested if you get anywhere – I have been pondering and thinking around this after spending lots of time recently working on projects in the Domestic Abuse sector – I think there is opportunity to explore around investment in safe spaces

Thanks Jo, yes it’s hard to navigate, our focus is international development women’s rights, but we do have a programme on ending violence against women. I’m doing some more follow ups and perhaps we can connect

Hi Roshana Arasaratnam – think it would be great for you to meet Selin Yigitbasi-Ducker who not only has created Goodsted, Géraldine Zanaska – Géraldine is a cultural project manager, and Hermeet Gill does amazing things within community projects which could also be of interest to you! Also on your Catapult cohort is Ayelet Mavor who is a cultural entrepreneur and angel investor! Have fun meeting!
