HOW GIANT ARE YOU? Are you good at handling pressure?
Regardless of the giants we face – whether they’ve chosen us or we’ve chosen them – how are you when they don’t bend to your will on your schedule?
Stress – the feeling of not being in control – can often bring with it an armada of strong feelings & emotions.
So now, not only are we facing pressures without, we’re also facing pressure from within; feelings we can barely wait to make go away.
This emotional & mental duress distracts us from the priorities we’re facing, diverting our energies & attention to medicating our discomfort, instead of tackling the issues.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s a kicker: like any material when placed under pressure, the greater the fractures, fissures & flaws in our psyche, the greater the fail rate.
An aeroplane hull with a stress fracture invisible to the naked eye can taxi along a runway just fine. But at 30,000 feet, the r…

HOW GIANT ARE YOU? Are you good at handling pressure?
If you’re feeling under pressure or put pressure on yourself, in my weekly Clubhouse We are GIANT! later today I’ll be talking about how you can handle your pressing loads better.
Our giants don’t defeat us because they’re too big. They defeat us because they make us feel small.
And if you’re diminished by your stressors then addressing that is where you need to focus your attention, as often we can’t control the source of our squeezing directly or immediately.
I’ll also be talking about some of the stories that you’re telling yourself that’s adding to feeling under pressure – & what you might like to do about that.
These times are tough enough as it is without us adding to them unnecessarily.
So if you like the idea of fixing that, do join our conversation.

YOU’VE KEPT US WAITING LONG ENOUGH
She didn’t use those exact words. Far from it. She was far too polite & careful for that. We barely knew each other, after all.
But that’s what I heard her saying. Loud & clear.
She was an executive coach I’d been introduced to & we’d just had a coffee in the jaunty little café next door to my town centre office. And now she sat gazing at my office’s obscenely large white board which fills an entire wall.
On the board has sat a course I’ve been working on for several years.
The course can help workers who are unemployed, feeling lost or stuck in their careers, been made redundant, or who are suffering in dead-end jobs or toxic workplaces.
It can help them recover from their dissatisfaction, distress & turmoil, reset their equilibrium & self confidence, reassess their talent, skills & strengths, & then make an enthusiastic decision about what to do next.
The cou…

Resilience coaching can touch on a number of heart-thumping issues.
They’re not easy to have conversations about. But they’re even harder to experience.
Like when a client didn’t pay me the £37k they owed me.
He left me with a difficult decision to make; one that was far from easy, but one I knew that if I didn’t make, I’d have been in an even worse position than the mess the debt had left me in.
In my weekly Clubhouse tonight, I’m talking about what that decision is, what I learnt about it, how you can practice it too (even when your emotions are running high) & how essential it is as a resilience tool in all of our relationships.
5th Aug; 8pm BST/3pm EST. The link’s here: https://clubhouse.com/event/M6gJN1rJ
None of this emotional & mental resilience stuff is easy. Nonetheless, everything truly worthwhile that we want is on the other side of hard things.
So let’s get some hard things done, shall we?
