Hi All!
Does anyone have any ideas/tips/direction for me please – I am looking for small grants (£5-10k) to go towards MVP App dev. The App dev agency suggested looking into LEP, local universities and council, Digital pods…
Is anyone here part of any such group, has experience they could share or direct me to appropriate places?
Thank you!! 😀

Hello, is there anyone here who would be willing to give me some advice and tips and share experience on when and how to split startup founder equity? I have reached another validation point and found someone I believe good for the team, but wants equal share. while I have no problem with sharing, i dont want to be ’stuck’ in the future, want to ensure the startup is founder proof and attractive for investors. I am thinking for the future…. So would be great to hear from someone who has either invested in startups or has experience with this. Even bad experience would be a great learning example for me. Many thanks!! Silvia

Our investors within the community may well be able to help – Tatyana Popova Philipp von Bieberstein Jonathan Bullock Ayelet Mavor Jeff Jones Rus Newton Nrinder – could you advise Silvia? Also, Silvia if you search for start-up founder in the search bar at the top, there will be other founders you can reach out to too. Hope this helps!

Copy question – I have recently created a 70-page document from a 5day virtual conference. It will be sold online by the organiser. Does anyone know how best to do this/package this? copyright. how to have clickable topics in the contents page so its then jumps to relevant section. how can a pdf be sold on various websites (4 organisations will push this out). I have never done this, and neither has the organiser of the event. It was intended initially for the vet industry, but realised it may be of interest as market insight to the non-vet bubble. there were thoughts on different price points too… any tips, hints, or direction greatly appreciated!! 🙂

Stephanie Dotto and Lexi Radcliffe-Hart can you help Silvia Janska?

Hey Silvia. Just curious, what did you use to create this document? There should be a functionality in InDesign that allows you to create a hyperlink to other pages in the document. You should be able to add interactive links into a PDF using Adobe Acrobat as well. In terms of selling this document on other websites, you’d probably need to discuss it with the organisers from the conference to determine the intellectual property rights.

Hi Stephanie Dotto, thank you for replying. Yes the doc is created in InDesign. i havent used it much before so learning as i go 🙂 Thanks for the tip about hyperlinks.

What’s the number.1 book you would recommend to a first time startup CEO? 🙂

Great question Silvia Janska! Ben Legg Fiona Chorlton-Voong – I know you’ll have some ideas! I’d recommend Dare to Lead by Brene Brown – not specific to start-ups but for first time leaders or leaders going into a new role, I think it sets a really excellent framework for management and company ethics.

Oooh I am not sure I can pick just 1 Silvia Janska!
My top 3 would be –
Stephen Covey – The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Simon Sinek – Leaders Eat Last
Frances Frei & Anne Morriss – Unleashed, which I just finished and it’s very inspiring
-
I’d go for Essentialism by Greg McKeown. It’s a good re-read even if it’s been read before as it helps prioritise and help someone strategise – ultimately what a new CEO would need to do.

– Zero to One – Peter Thiel
– The Lean Startup – Eric Ries
– The Hard Thing About Hard Things – Ben Horowitz
