I’ve just joined TPC and by way of getting to know some people, I’d love to hear where you go to work when you want to get out of the house? What are the advantages? And why do you choose this place?
I’ve been working in the cafe at Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath quite a bit in September. Walking or cycling there gets me going in the morning and seems to get the creativity going. Especially when I need to write something, as I find this hard and there are less opportunities to procrastinate away from the house.

It varies for me, as long as my laptop has power I can work anywhere. If the weather is good I could work in the local park for an hour or so. Cafes are nice when they’re not crazy busy. Libraries are a good quiet place to get things done. Just depends on the mood as well.

In my town centre office, which is about half an hour’s walk from home. If I’m not there, I’m on my kitchen table.
Haven’t yet found out if I enjoy working on my laptop in public spaces yet. Haven’t needed to. Walking meetings in our spectacular local park a few yards from my office is as far as I’ve got so far…

Hi Tamsin, great to meet you on the welcome call yesterday! Your question has come at a great time because I signed up to a co-working space just yesterday! After a year and a half of working in my tiny room I’m getting a bit bored of seeing the same four walls so am excited to try something new and get out a bit more!

Tamsin Tweddell I know the café well as a start to our weekend walks all year round. I would probably find it too noisy/busy for some of my work but it’s a great place to people watch. My main place of work is my garden office but I do need a change of scene so a local café or the kitchen table when I have the house to myself.

I joined the Institute of Engineering and Technology a while back – they have a really great workspace on the Embankment in London. I was getting cabin feverish at home – and Your question has prompted me to go and work there! (Welcome to the TPC BTW).

Libraries are a good quiet place to get things done. Hotels and AirBNBs. Or just a bench in a pedestrian zone. My laptop has 8 hours battery life, which helps.

I’ve recently started using Borrow My Doggy – and have been matched with a woman who lives in my village with two dogs – I get a day a week with them, so a whole day where I work from her house and have regularly puppy based breaks – it’s really great for less distractions and more self-care! Plus they are super cute!
Welcome to TPC. Nothing as grand as Kenwood House. I’ve pretty much worked from home since COVID started but I quite often used to go into town and work in cafe for a change. There’s also the local library and the town library here which is really nice. My favourite place to work is Gladstone’s Library in N Wales which is just wonderful.
